What’s the worst that could happen to you? For many, falling sick when traveling overseas tops the list. Atlas travel insurance is a short term plan, especially designed to benefit vacationers, business travelers, and students on study abroad trips.
Atlas international travel insurance plan offers extensive medical insurance coverage, including outpatient treatment, hospitalization, and ambulance services. It also offers a $100 per day hospital indemnity benefit, and covers physical therapy, emergency dental procedures, and medical emergency evacuation. The plan also offers a dangerous sports coverage rider for an extra fee.
One of the major turn-offs for seniors who consider international travel insurance is the rider that excludes pre-existing conditions. The Atlas travelers medical insurance plan covers an acute recurrence of pre-existing conditions for those under 70. Also, if the insured undergoes hospitalization, and that results in accompanying covered minors being left unattended, the plan covers their return to the home country.
In keeping with the times, the plan also offers coverage for accidents resulting from acts of terrorism and natural disasters, and costs related to political evacuation. If an international trip is interrupted due to a catastrophic event that damages the home of the insured, the Atlas travel insurance plan will cover his/her trip back home. In the unfortunate event of the death of the insured, the plan covers the cost of sending the remains home.
As an incentive, the Atlas travel insurance plan offers coverage in the home country during extended travel, for a maximum of 15 days within a 3-month period, and an optional 30-day medical coverage after the insured returns home.
Additional value-add services include tracking of lost baggage, referrals to doctors and lawyers, and help with replacing lost documents. Within USA, if doctors and hospitals within the PPO network provide treatment, the policy covers 100% after the deductible.
To be eligible for Atlas travel insurance coverage, the applicant must be at least 14 days old. The period of coverage can be anywhere from 5 days to 12 months. Plan holders can perform a variety of tasks through the online client zone, and can also call customer service toll-free from several countries around the world.
Benefits of the Atlas international travel insurance plan range from $50,000 to 1,000,000. The premium varies with the age of the insured, maximum medical coverage and deductible. The addition of the sports rider will increase the premium.
