Social Networking: A Tool for Self-Promotion?
People say that you have to be on Facebook or other social networking websites otherwise you don't exist. Recently I have seen myself beginning to agree with these individuals. If you would like to actually know a bit about the life of your friends or fellow workers, you just need social networking sites. It is nearly impossible to keep in contact otherwise.
But don't just think of these sites as a way of keeping up to date about the lives of mates. Let's face it, real estate agents (and not only them, of course) also use such sites because they want to somehow help themselves, they want to draw in more customers to use their services. The times when a billboard or a tiny advertisement in a newspaper was enough for propagation of one's work or business are long defunct and they will won't come back. Internet is THE strong instrument now. If you browse the internet, you will find lots of articles with tips on how to use, and promote yourself, on social networking sites.
Of course it's much more time consuming for older generations to get used to all the types of new websites, types of writing, commenting and all the related tasks. Our youngsters seem to know it somehow naturally, but for us, it might take a while to figure out how everything works. We stick with it and try our level best to learn it all. Those thoughts, I bet, are not just felt by me, but by many realtors out there.
Using the internet, writing on social websites and finding interesting and new things to post on our blogs is usually the last thing we want to do after a hard day at work. Nonetheless, saying that it's does form a slice of our daily lives. Settling down now means going on-line to get our social networking work done. But does the public really worry about what we discuss? Is it only individuals that do the same job actually studying the articles and posts we make? Is there an solution to that question, I don't believe so.
Personally because the features are of interest to me, I do read and look at the websites of my fellow real estate associates. For someone who is not involved in the property market, I really couldn't say whether these reports would be of any interest. So now I don't have to see or talk to my fellow agents often to know what is going on with their lives, I can read about it in their websites and posts. I know now more about colleagues that I haven't chatted to for ages due to the internet and the social network websites. What a brilliant thing social networking is.
As a real estate agent I sell Condominiums Toronto, and I believe social networking to be one of the key ways of success. Therefore I hope this little article was of any help for you!
